Brim Restaurant Review {An Entirely Gluten-Free Cafe!}

February 18, 2026 by Claire Leave a Comment

Oof. What a weekend. The past few days have been President’s Day weekend–no school but Eric still had work–so I haven’t had time to sit down with the blog or really, anything beyond dishes and laundry that’s needed my attention. (Our tax forms are screaming my name from the corner as their deadline approaches…)

Anyways, after an unseasonably warm few days, Minnesota remembered that it’s winter. And how better to cozy up than visiting a new restaurant near us that’s not just gluten-free friendly, but entirely gluten-free?! Brim Café & Coffee opened up on the edge of Edina/Richfield fairly recently and we’ve been excited to visit since. So here’s our restaurant review of Brim.… Read More »

November Meal Plan (Gluten-Free & Kid-Friendly)

November 6, 2025 by Claire Leave a Comment

Well hellooooo friends. Somehow Halloween is done and dusted, the stores are full of Christmas decorations and I’m personally not quite ready for the holiday season! Let me have my cold, rainy November days for a few weeks first, please. I kind of love the bare-treed, gloomy-skied, icy aesthetic of this month. It creates a hyggeligt feeling inside 🙂

Anyways, I’m late, but I’m bringing you that autumn (now just November) meal plan I promised back in September. I had the hardest time deciding which recent eats to share in the meal plan, so there are lots more favorite recipes linked down below, too. As always, this is a realistic look at what we eat so not every meal is even from a recipe. But hopefully you can find some new favorites here!… Read More »

What to Feed Your Mind

August 15, 2025 by Claire Leave a Comment

I write a lot about how we feed our bodies on Just to Claireify… but what about how we feed our minds?

Do you ever find yourself in a funk and you’re not sure why? The days just sort of blend together and it feels like there’s nothing to look forward to? I’m not talking about a clinical mental health problem, although I certainly have experienced those when I was younger. It’s more of a mental rut–sometimes you don’t know how you got there, but you need to turn things around to start enjoying life again.

For me, during these periods, I often realize that the content I’m consuming–whether it’s books, blogs, videos, social media, or even conversations I’m having in real life–is feeding my funk. The tone of this content isn’t inspiring, in fact, it’s quite the opposite. It’s cynical, pessismistic, perfectionistic or extreme. It normalizes a negative attitude towards the world and I end up feeling frustrated and low, too.… Read More »

“Happylists” & Tying Up Loose Ends

June 1, 2025 by Claire Leave a Comment

🎶 School’s out for summer! 🎶 Preschool and elementary school are out and with them, many of the gatherings and to-do’s that have filled our past few weeks. Community involvement is wonderful and we’ve had so much fun with the kids… and I’m excited to have some free time again.

This weekend, however, we did not relax. After letting housework and home/yard tasks seriously fall by the wayside in May, it was time to dig out and get stuff done. (Also, there was heavy wildfire smoke in the air, so it just made sense to stay indoors more than usual. Like the world was telling me to get my life together :P)… Read More »

Osoji: A Deep Clean to Welcome the New Year

January 13, 2025 by Claire Leave a Comment

Last month, in the midst of my own major post-holiday declutter, I learned a new-to-me term: osoji, which Google tells me literally means “big clean” in Japanese. It’s not a new tradition at all, however–it dates back to circa 800 A.D. At that time, the Imperial Court was ritually cleansed of soot at the end of each year to welcome the deity of the new year (source, source).

Keeping my home free from unused items does have a spiritual component for me. It feels respectful to my family to maintain a decluttered home in which the kids can play and Eric and I can efficiently live our lives. It feels respectful to the environment to thoughtfully pass on items we don’t need, and to receive an annual reminder to be intentional about the things we bring into our home. I even have more mental space to focus on what matters in life and to be intentional about my own spiritual practice when we aren’t overwhelmed by unnecessary stuff.… Read More »
