What exactly is a crunchy mom? Some definitions include: someone who raises their children in a natural lifestyle, someone who follows their intuition to parent rather than current trends or official recommendations, or a parent who prioritizes the health of their children and the environment. Some definitions include phrases like “liberal-leaning” while others call crunchy moms “crazy,” “anti-science” or “conspiracy theorists.”
Obviously, there’s not even one official definition, since much of the above is self-contradictory!

People often assume that because I’m a crunchy parent, my kids have never seen a TV show or held a smartphone before. But, this isn’t the case at all. I believe in holding off on screen time as long as it works for you–but I also understand that there are situations when you might need a bit of quiet time, or perhaps your kids need a bit of down time. Screen time can be a great solution in moderation.…
Every 90s kid had a boombox in their bedroom, right? My metallic blue boombox lived on the lower shelf of my nightstand. It was huge, ugly, and had awful audio quality. But it got the job done–playing my CDs and cassettes of music and stories–and there weren’t really alternatives at the time.
