I haven’t done a meal planning post in a while, so here’s a look at what we’re eating lately! Our grocery bill continues to be wayyy above where I’d like it to be, even with buying a lot of essentials at Target… but perhaps that’s just the way life is these days.… Read More »

Living a Balanced Life: Use It Up, Wear It Out…
…Make it do or do without. I am full of inspiration to be thriftier and in the process more eco-friendly, as I’m reading a wonderful book right now called The Simple Home.
We cook (mostly) from scratch, take hand-me-downs, use up our food stores/art supplies/toiletries etc, and try to buy sales for everything from food to clothing to home improvement items. But there are many ways we could live a more frugal life and make better use of the money and resources available to us.… Read More »
Growing a Family & Friendships
Especially in the past year, I’ve really started to feel the distance between most of my friends from “previous lives” (high school and college) and my current life and self. Most of them do not have kids and/or are unsure if they want any. I am guessing many new-ish parents can relate.
This is one area I was definitely wearing rose-tinted glasses when planning a family. Expecting that people who felt so close and supportive of us pre-kids, would continue to be close and supportive after having them. That’s not the case for most people.… Read More »

I find myself SO interested in the daily lives of other moms lately. I am always looking for ways to streamline and make things easier, to make more time for the things we really love to do or fun new projects. We get along pretty well but it’s difficult to imagine adding more kids (which I would love) without turning our lives upside down–so organizing and simplifying are the priorities for this year.
Here is roughly what today looked like for us, for example. Every day is a bit different as we have OT for one child which varies by the week, and preschool for the oldest is only twice a week, plus other commitments to family and friends.… Read More »
Baby K’s New Nursery
This weekend it’s been raining, snowing and cold again so we’ve done lots of chores, food prep and work on Baby K’s nursery.
The rug is not quite flat yet so we stretched it again and pinned down the corners under furniture. It relaxes when it’s humid but obviously, it’s been quite cold and dry since moving in most days! I bought cheap rugs for the kids’ rooms from Wayfair and no regrets since they’ve already gotten all kinds of stains and spills 😛 I’ll save the nice wool rugs for when they’re all potty-trained and don’t drop every second drink they bring up to the bedroom.… Read More »
