I wasn’t quite sure how to title this post… “Happy New Year!” sounds a bit out-of-touch, given current events. I live in a first-ring suburb of Minneapolis, so there’s a lot of conflict happening at my doorstep. This isn’t a political blog, but it’s impossible to ignore politics when it reaches into daily life.
The heavens opened up over the Twin Cities yesterday. It rained all afternoon and started up again overnight. I woke up at 5am to rain pounding on the roof, thunder crashing overhead, and… the sound of my baby crying because he had woken up, too. Sigh.
Blergh. Every time I sit down to write over the past few weeks, I get partway through the post, run out of steam, and save the draft for another time. It’s not that I’m picking topics I don’t want to write about–they’re just not on the top of my mind right now. And with everything else happening at the moment, I seem only capable of writing about what I’m currently mulling over.
