Especially in the past year, I’ve really started to feel the distance between most of my friends from “previous lives” (high school and college) and my current life and self. Most of them do not have kids and/or are unsure if they want any. I am guessing many new-ish parents can relate.

This weekend it’s been raining, snowing and cold again so we’ve done lots of chores, food prep and work on Baby K’s nursery.
The rug is not quite flat yet so we stretched it again and pinned down the corners under furniture. It relaxes when it’s humid but obviously, it’s been quite cold and dry since moving in most days! I bought cheap rugs for the kids’ rooms from Wayfair and no regrets since they’ve already gotten all kinds of stains and spills 😛 I’ll save the nice wool rugs for when they’re all potty-trained and don’t drop every second drink they bring up to the bedroom.… Read More »
A few years ago, I watched “The True Cost,” a documentary about the fashion industry, and my view of clothing and shopping was forever changed. Seriously–don’t watch it if you don’t want to look at your closet in horror afterwards, thinking about how all those t-shirts and dresses came to be. (My popular post Why & How to Shop for Secondhand Clothes was also inspired by this documentary.)
The documentary mostly focuses on the environmental and ethical problems in fashion. But afterwards, I couldn’t help but remember the toxic conditions in which most clothing is produced and think: I don’t want that anywhere near my skin, let alone my kids.
