Oof. What a weekend. The past few days have been President’s Day weekend–no school but Eric still had work–so I haven’t had time to sit down with the blog or really, anything beyond dishes and laundry that’s needed my attention. (Our tax forms are screaming my name from the corner as their deadline approaches…)
Anyways, after an unseasonably warm few days, Minnesota remembered that it’s winter. And how better to cozy up than visiting a new restaurant near us that’s not just gluten-free friendly, but entirely gluten-free?! Brim Café & Coffee opened up on the edge of Edina/Richfield fairly recently and we’ve been excited to visit since. So here’s our restaurant review of Brim.
It’s casual, order-at-the-counter dining and they have a fairly large space. People were working on their laptops in the back section and chatting at the front. They have plenty of high chairs as well as baby/toddler-friendly glassware (sippy cups with silicone straws) and a kid’s menu. We didn’t order off of that today, just picked out a slice of GF banana bread for our youngest, but it looks fantastic.
Eric ordered the pulled beef sandwich and I got the “heritage hash,” which was roasted sweet potatoes, sautéed onions and peppers, poached eggs and bacon. And cashew chipotle sauce… be still, my lactose-intolerant heart. SO good, friends. The portion size was quite generous so while I didn’t quite finish it, I enjoyed every bite. And Eric took a few bites, too, after finishing his sandwich 🙂
Brim sources a lot of its meat, dairy, fish, eggs, and even some produce from local farms, which you can find listed on their site here. This local foodie loves that! Even better, their food is refined seed-oil free. Instead, they use olive, coconut and avocado oils for cooking. The pro-metabolic mom in me loves that, too!
If you’re looking for a new healthy-but-delicious brunch or dinner spot, definitely check it our. And no, I wasn’t paid to write this Brim restaurant review. I just know how hard it is for people with celiac disease or other gluten intolerance to find a restaurant that’s healthy, yummy, and reasonably priced. And Brim definitely fits that description!
xx Claire
