August has come and gone! We’re back from Boulder, my oldest is back to school, the weather is delightfully crisp, and I am oh so ready to buckle down on some personal projects and a deeeeeeeep clean of our house. As a cold weather person, I feel SO much more inspired and motivated once the weather cools down. And I love it!
Side note: I kind of love that my most popular posts ever on the blog are about tuna, cold weather and why I’m not a crunchy mom. How’s that for a mix of topics? 😛 Don’t read this blog if you don’t like randomness, haha.

Favorite meal out: We don’t go out to eat much as a family of six, but this month I ate out a bunch of times with extended family, I have to give a shout-out to Tilia in Linden Hills for the best croque madame I’ve ever had. I would eat this for breakfast daily if time and money allowed. (My dad got the sourdough pancakes, which also looked amazing. I’m just a savory breakfast girl.)
Honorary mention to the crab cake at Salut in Edina, the California omelet at The Buff in Boulder, and Mod Pizza in Superior for actually offering pesto pizza on their menu. My kids don’t eat pizza with tomato sauce, only pesto, so it was a pleasant find during our time in Colorado!
(Not a) favorite book: To be honest, I was pretty uninspired with reading this month. I finally wrapped up Deep Nutrition and sped through Your Marriage by God’s Design in two days. The former was excellent but dense. The latter was just kind of meh.
Favorite purchase: Tie between this Quince sweater in navy/white stripe (fall capsule wardrobe post incoming soon!) and the Lovevery early reader kit for my 4-year-old. He’s expressed interest in learning how to read this year and has loved every activity we’ve tried from the box. At the moment we’re working on rhyming and starting/ending sounds.
Favorite pasttime: Does anyone else love switching out their kid’s/kids’ clothing when the seasons start to change? I don’t need to buy much anymore (thanks to hand-me-downs from neighbors, family, and from my older kids to my younger) but I love getting organized for the next season. I think I love prepping for fall the most because I get to think about coordinating outfits for our family photos!
Favorite adventure: Taking the olders (plus baby of course) hiking in the mountains near Boulder. I’ll write more about it in another post but I forgot how much I love (1) the views, which make me feel like I wandered into a fantasy novel, (2) the quiet of the mountains (there’s nowhere like it here), and (3) the photo opportunities!

Favorite garden success: Our first pie pumpkin, picked a few days ago! And there are tons more on the vine too.
Looking forward to next month: Eric is taking his last two weeks of paternity leave–yes, his company is amazing and gives employees 12 weeks they can take anytime during the first year–and we’re planning ALL the adventures with our almost-toddler while the olders are at school. And maybe we’ll actually take a couple naps when he does, too 😛 Decadent!
What’s new with you this September? What’s something you’re looking forward to this fall/spring?
xx Claire
